sunnies /ˈsʌniz/

(plural noun) Usage note: This term is used by many speakers.

Short for ‘sunglasses’, referring to glasses (spectacles) with special lenses (pieces of glass or plastic) that keep out the harmful rays of the sun.

Example: As they stepped into the cool clubroom the girls had to pause to flip their sunnies up onto the top of their heads and let their eyes adjust to the light. (http://www.spyjournal.biz/taxonomy/term/300)
