emu /ˈi:mju:/

(countable noun) Usage note: This is the usual term used by all speakers.

A native Australian bird that cannot fly. Emus are up to 2 metres tall and have a long neck and long, strong legs.

Example: We even saw another emu but it ran away too fast for us to get a photo of it. (http://www.tranmere.sa.scouts.com.au/newsletters/2003%20Camp%202.html)
