 (countable noun) (informal) Usage note: This term is used by many people when writing an invitation.

An abbreviation of ‘barbecue’. ‘Barbecue’ can refer to an occasion (‘Come to a barbecue’) or to the device used for cooking, which is usually a gas-fired or charcoal-fired grill, in a backyard (garden), park or country area.
