Aussie Rules /ɒzi ˈru:lz/
(plural noun) (informal) Usage note: This is the usual term used by all speakers.
Short for ‘Australian Rules’, a type of football game played with an oval ball, with two teams of 18 players on each side. Players can touch, hold or kick the ball. The game is played professionally by the Australian Football League (AFL).
