Adelaide Fringe /ædəleɪd 'frɪndʒ/
(countable noun) Usage note: This is the usual term used by all speakers.
An alternative arts festival held at the same time as the Adelaide Festival. It usually lasts for four weeks and has cheaper tickets than the Adelaide Festival. The Fringe has many different large and small shows, including circus acts, music, comedy, drama, visual arts and street performances.
Example: I saw him at the Adelaide Fringe festival a few weeks ago. His show in Adelaide sounds very much the same as what people are describing here. (http://blogs.theage.com.au/lastlaugh/archives/2007/04/reader_reviews_2.html)
